With the rig strapped to the roof rack of Chelsea's Subaru we shot out to the beach.
After watching the videos I thought that it would be super easy; you just throw up the sail, hop right on and start looking good.
NOT!
As with everything this will definitely be a learning experience. I am really excited about it though.
Tomorrow we will head back out, however this time we are going to a smaller inland lake so that we don't have to fight the waves. Hopefully we have some sweet action shots tomorrow night!
For now the two of us are just relaxing and having a little backyard party!
Hope your Wednesday went well.

Just two dudes, jumping off a dune
Thought I would upload a few pics of Matty and I jumping off of a little grass clump.
More to come soon.

Back in Nor-Mich and loving it. Expect to see new posts from all the usual places and a few new ones
Yesterday my friend Matt came for a visit so I had to show him my new favorite spot, Old Baldy. After the half-mile barefoot hike we descended the face of the dune. The thrill of rushing down the dune, bounding almost weightless and at tremendous speeds is somewhat overshadowed when you finally reach the bottom by the sudden realization that lingered in the back of your head the whole way down, "oh my God, look how high we have to climb."
Though the ascent was challenging it was not impossible and I urge any of you who make your way out to the end of the trail to make the extra effort to let your inner child out by barreling down the sandy chute.
On another note, while walking around at nearby river we saw a few salmon. Maybe this week I could hook into my first one!
Wish me luck.

Summer semester is ending, posts are slow, but never fear!
I have a three week break coming up!
You know what that means: hiking, kayaking, swimming, camping, slacking and time off for adventures of all sorts!
What will I be doing on this little vacation? Everything that I can.
I have a camping/ kayaking trip in the makings, slack practice, seeing water, relaxing (if I can learn by then) and possibly some biking and or turning the old schwinn into a single speed.
Until then I will be posting sparse and short posts letting you all know about the small adventures in my life, but when the exams are over things will heat up for sure!
As a quick update: I am still doing the Clif2mile challenge. I am a little over 230 miles right now, and I am listed as being in the top 200 riders across the country in the challenge! Biking all over has renewed the want to be fit within me. So baby steps back to fitness.
Have been reading some Allen Ginsberg poems lately; mostly decent.
Banana trees are doing swell.
Massive pile of study sheets are to my left... daunting.
Time to extinguish a few more of them.
Someday boy, someday you will be free, when the time comes oh how you will love it.

Teamwork
While outside studying this morning I happened to see these two ants beneath me working together to make this difficult task look rather easy.

New Favorite Dirt Road.
Sometimes something as simple as a quiet dirt road can revive a tired mind. Before heading out to get subs this evening I peeked at googlemaps and found what looked like a short cut. I took mental notes on the names and sequence of turns and set off.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the short cut was a mile section of dirt road. Here is a video of the return trip. (I am really working on a better way to strap the camera down)
